The Mercedes-Benz L 325 was a long-bonnet diesel truck that Daimler-Benz produced at the Gaggenau plant from June 1954 to 1957. It replaced the L 5500 and was built only with rear-wheel drive, as a flatbed, a tipper and a tractor unit; there was no all-wheel-drive version, and it was made only with left-hand steering. It was powered by the OM 325 inline six-cylinder diesel introduced in 1954, a 7,274 cubic centimetre engine with pre-chamber injection and water cooling that produced 125 horsepower, or 92 kilowatts. Power passed through a Fichtel and Sachs single-plate dry clutch to a mechanical five-speed ZF claw gearbox. The chassis was a riveted U-profile ladder frame with rigid axles on leaf springs, and the Teves brakes acted hydraulically with compressed-air assistance on all four drums.
