Fiat 671

The Fiat 671 was a medium-heavy versatile truck of the post-war reconstruction of Italy, built by the Italian maker Fiat V.I. from 1953 to 1963 as a rigid carrier for the 14 to 18 tonne range. It replaced the Fiat 670, the last of the large Fiat V.I. heavy truck family to have the Fiat forward cab before the famous moustache cab, called baffo, that Fiat V.I. fitted to all its trucks until 1970, and it was replaced in turn by the Fiat 643. It took the last version of the unified Fiat V.I. cab and a Fiat 364A six cylinder in-line engine of 6,650 cubic centimetres giving 92 horsepower. Like the 670 it could not tow a trailer, and almost every one was fitted with a third axle to raise the gross weight to 18 tonnes. It was built in three versions: the 671N with the unified cab, the 671N2 with the first baffo cab with vertical chrome bars, and the 671N3 with a honeycomb grille.
