Morris FV

Trucks and Commercial Road Vehicles

The Morris FV was a 5-ton truck built by Morris Commercial between 1948 and 1955, replacing the Morris CVF. Its forward-control cab was an innovation in 1948, though the rest of the design recalled pre-war trucks, and after Morris and Austin merged into the British Motor Corporation in 1954 it could also be had with an Austin badge. A simple cab with rear-hinged doors sat over a 4.3-litre six-cylinder diesel built under licence from Saurer, with a four-cylinder alternative more common at home. Pickup, panel van and tractor unit versions were offered, bare chassis for specialist bodies were sold, and Morris built its own fire engine for municipal brigades. In 1955 it became the Morris and Austin FE.
