Ford C series

Trucks and Commercial Road Vehicles

The Ford C series was a range of cab-over-engine trucks that Ford built from 1957 to 1990. It was the first tilting-cab cabover Ford produced; the name had earlier belonged to the fixed-cab COE variant of the F-Series made from 1948 to 1956. Built as straight trucks and as semitractors across Class 5 to Class 8, it was a popular basis for fire apparatus and grew into the larger H series, Ford's first diesel-engined truck. The cab was designed and tooled by Ford but built by the Budd Company, and other makers used it, the best known being the look-alike Mack Model N of 1958 to 1962. Ford added diesel versions of the C series in 1963, moved assembly from the Louisville Assembly Plant to Kentucky Truck Assembly in 1969, and began replacing the line with the CF8000 in 1986; the final trucks were built in 1990 after 33 model years of only minor change.
