The Fiat 15 was a light military lorry built by Fiat Veicoli Industriali, the commercial vehicle arm of the Turin carmaker. In 1909 the Italian Royal Army asked for a light multirole truck to carry people and supplies, and Carlo Cavalli of Fiat Veicoli Industriali designed it. It entered service in 1911 and was used heavily in the Italo-Turkish War. A front-mounted petrol engine drove the rear wheels, which were fitted in pairs, and the first version used a Fiat Brevetti 15/20 four-cylinder engine of 3,053 cubic centimetres with a fuel pump in place of gravity feed. The Fiat 15 bis, called Libia, followed in 1911 and the more powerful Fiat 15 ter replaced it in 1913. The chassis also carried buses, ambulances and fire pumps, and the Russian firm AMO built the 15 ter under licence as the F-15.
