The CB550 came out in 1974, starting with the CB550K, a development of the earlier CB500 that had, as that bike did, wire spoked wheels, four silencers and four exhaust pipes. Next to Honda's dry sump CB750 of 1969, both the CB500 and the CB550 were much smaller and lighter, and the CB550K was Honda's mid capacity bike in its range of fours. The sources used for this page record no other change specific to the 1974 model year, so this page claims none.
