Honda NSR250R

Motorcycles and Powered Two- and Three-Wheelers

Honda Motor Co., Ltd. produced the NSR250R, a two stroke sport bike of 249 cc, legal for the street and oriented to the road, between 1987 and 1999. It evolved from the popular NS250R MC11 and was produced over four distinct generations, MC16, MC18, MC21 and MC28, each powered by liquid-cooled, reed valve inducted 249 cc 90 degree V-twin two-stroke engines. All engines incorporated the Honda RC-Valve power valve system and nikasil-sulfur lined cylinder bores, hence the NS in NSR. The road-going NSRs were built in the image of the Honda RS250R production race motorcycle series, although they shared no mechanical parts. This site lists a page for every model year in the span covered here, each focused on what changed in that year, grouped into 4 generations: the MC16 (1987 model year); the MC18 (1988 to 1989 model years); the MC21 (1990 to 1993 model years); the MC28 (1994 to 1996 model years). Each year page links to its generation, to this model page, to the previous model year and to Honda.
