Honda introduced the sixth-generation CBR900RR, the CBR954RR in North America and Japan, in 2002, with the cylinder bore enlarged from 74 to 75 mm for 954 cc, a radiator and fuel injectors that were larger, re-mapped electronic fuel injection and a stronger ECU. Restyled bodywork gave a sleeker look, the frame and swingarm were strengthened and the footpegs raised for greater lean angles. Dry weight was reduced to 168 kg.
