1988 Honda Gold Wing

Motorcycles and Powered Two- and Three-Wheelers

The GL1500 brought the biggest changes to the Gold Wing series since its start: a flat six in place of the flat four, fed by just two large 36 mm Keihin carburetors, plastic enclosing the whole motorcycle and a reverse gear that cleverly used the starter motor, electric and linked to the transmission. It grew in nearly every dimension, with a dry weight of 794 pounds, and 1988 was the first year in which Honda exported Gold Wings to Japan from the US.
