1981 Honda Express

Motorcycles and Powered Two- and Three-Wheelers

Both the Express and the Express II received a series of improvements in 1981: an automatic choke unit, a tougher kick starter in place of the wind-up starter and solid state capacitor discharge ignition in place of the contact breaker system, and the Express II also got an automatic two speed transmission. New in 1981 was the Express SR (NX50), a scooter variant with a somewhat modified engine, the first Express with an electric starter, a continuously variable transmission, the Honda V-Matic, and a 12 volt electrical system.
