Honda introduced the XL250 in 1972, a motorcycle that was both the first modern four stroke enduro bike and the first mass produced motorcycle with four valves. The first four-valve single was the Ricardo Triumph four-valve of the 1920s. The later XL350 and the XL250 laid the ground for the revolutionary wave of big modern four stroke enduro bikes. The bike is a street-legal dual-sport machine intended for on- and off-road use.
