The Vitesse is the compact six cylinder car that Standard-Triumph built from 1962 to 1971, based on the Giovanni Michelotti designed Herald and available in saloon and convertible variants. It was introduced on 25 May 1962 and reused a name previously used by the pre war Triumph Motor Company. In September 1966 the engine was upgraded to 1998 cc, in line with the new GT6, and the Mark II was launched in October 1968. It was discontinued in July 1971, seven months before the Dolomite replaced it. This site gives every generation and every model year its own page, in 2 generations: the Vitesse 6 (1962 to 1966); the Vitesse 2-Litre and Mark II (1966 to 1971).
