Rover SD1

Automobiles

The SD1 is a large five door hatchback with fastback styling, a front engine rear drive executive car that replaced both the Rover P6 and the Triumph 2000, named for the Specialist Division of British Leyland that designed it. It was launched in June 1976 as the V8 powered Rover 3500 and won the European Car of the Year title for 1977. Production moved from Solihull to Cowley in 1981, and the Rover 800 series replaced it in 1986. This site gives every generation and every model year its own page, in 2 generations: the Series 1 (1976 to 1982); the Series 2 (1982 to 1986).
