The Eighteen was a large Austin saloon introduced on 14 July 1937 in two wheelbases, for five or seven passengers. It replaced the York Sixteen, with the engine and front seat moved forward nine inches and the chassis lengthened three inches, giving twelve inches more passenger space, a short bonnet and a good driving position. It had a four speed gearbox with synchromesh and Girling rod brakes. This site gives every generation and every model year its own page, in one generation: the Eighteen (1937 to 1938).
