Austin A40 Somerset

Automobiles

The A40 Somerset is the motor car that the Austin Motor Company produced from 1952 until 1954, the replacement for the A40 Devon. It was initially offered only as a four door saloon, and a three passenger two door convertible of the same body style was introduced in late 1952. In 1953 the company produced a special version of around 500 Somerset saloons with the more powerful engine from the sports model, which had twin SU carburettors in place of the single Zenith downdraught type. This site gives every generation and every model year its own page, in one generation: the single generation (1952 to 1954).
