The 2005 model year is the last of the seventh generation. A Special Edition trim, offered on the LX or the EX, was added for the 2005 model year in September 2004, and it slotted in as a further choice within the same range. In August 2005 Honda unveiled a sporting hatchback Si for the European market only, with a 1.4 litre i-DSI engine and a 1.6 litre VTEC rated at 83 PS and 140 PS. The eighth generation followed in September 2005 as a 2006 model.
