The 1988 model year brought the coupe to the Honda Accord lineup. The two door coupe that came in 1987 for the 1988 model year was built solely at the Marysville, Ohio factory, and Honda shipped examples back to Japan, where it was called the US coupe CA6. Canada received the A20A1 and A20A3 engines from 1988. North American Accords continued to use sealed beam headlamps, even though the U.S. requirement for standardised headlamps had been rescinded in late 1983, until the fourth generation was released.
