The 2017 Honda HR-V continued the second generation with the 1.8 liter engine in North America. From late 2017 Honda ran a project to build the next-generation HR-V and sell it in India starting December 2019, but it was shelved once more because of weak sales forecasts, after earlier citing uncompetitive pricing and the cost of localizing parts such as the electric parking brake.
