Honda builds the Odyssey in North America as a minivan, introduced in 1994 as a 1995 model and the company's first minivan. It was conceived and engineered in Japan after the country's economic crisis of the 1990s, which constrained the size and concept of the first generation. Since 1998 Honda has marketed a larger, large MPV class Odyssey in North America and a smaller Odyssey in Japan and other markets, and Honda built a plant in Lincoln, Alabama to manufacture the larger models. The North American Odyssey was also sold in Japan as the LaGreat until 2005, and the first generation was marketed in Europe as the Honda Shuttle. This is a separate model page from the international Odyssey. This site lists a page for every model year in the span covered here, each focused on what changed in that year, grouped into 5 generations: the first generation (1995 to 1998 model years); the second generation (1999 to 2004 model years); the third generation (2005 to 2010 model years); the fourth generation (2011 to 2017 model years); the fifth generation (2018 to 2025 model years). Each year page links to its generation, to this model page, to the previous model year and to Honda.
