The Underground Electric Railways Company of London, known operationally as the Underground, was a holding company for early rapid transit lines in London, established in 1902. It controlled three deep level tube lines that opened between 1906 and 1907, the Baker Street and Waterloo Railway, the Charing Cross, Euston and Hampstead Railway, and the Great Northern, Piccadilly and Brompton Railway, and it was also parent company to the District Railway from 1902, overseeing its electrification between 1903 and 1905. These lines eventually became parts of the Bakerloo, Northern and Piccadilly lines of the London Underground.
