EMD F125

Diesel and Electric Locomotives

The EMD F125 Spirit is a four-axle passenger diesel locomotive manufactured by Electro-Motive Diesel for the North American market since 2015. It is powered by a Caterpillar C175-20 V20 diesel engine rated at 4,700 horsepower and can travel at a maximum in-service speed of 125 miles per hour pulling up to ten cars. It was EMD's first new passenger locomotive for the North American market in 15 years, and Metrolink is the only customer, ordering 40 to replace its F59PH and F59PHI units. Features include Tier 4 emissions compliance, AC traction, regenerative blended braking and crash energy management, in a streamlined body designed by Vossloh of Spain.
