Sri Lanka Railways S9 is a class of diesel-electric multiple unit train sets operated by the state-run rail operator of Sri Lanka, and the first class of diesel-electric multiple units to run on Sri Lankan rails. The class was introduced in the year 2000 and was built by the China South Locomotive and Rolling Stock Corporation. The cars are 19.81 metres long and carry third class accommodation only, because the sets are used exclusively for commuter services. They run on the Main Line up to Rambukkana, on the Coastal Line, on the Puttalam Line and on the Northern Line, but not on the Kelani Valley Line.
