Kawasaki-Sifang C151C

Passenger Rolling Stock and High-Speed Trainsets

The C151C is the sixth generation of electric multiple unit trains on Singapore's North-South and East-West MRT lines, made by a consortium of Kawasaki Heavy Industries working with CRRC Qingdao Sifang under Contract 151C. Twelve trains were bought, the first arriving on 27 October 2017 and the batch finishing in 2019, which lifted the fleet on those lines to 198 trainsets. The first three sets began passenger service on 30 September 2018. It was the first MRT rolling stock fitted with tip-up seats. The award of the contract to a consortium that had just been criticised over cracks in its C151A trains was briefly a political issue in Singapore.
