Kawasaki-Sifang C151B

Passenger Rolling Stock and High-Speed Trainsets

The C151B is the fifth generation of electric multiple unit trains on the North-South and East-West lines of Singapore's Mass Rapid Transit system, built under Contract 151B by Kawasaki Heavy Industries working with CRRC Qingdao Sifang. Kawasaki handled project management, design and bogies while Sifang manufactured and assembled the trains, and 45 sets were delivered by April 2017. The first set entered service on 16 April 2017. They were the first on those lines with electric door actuators in place of pneumatic ones. In 2024 one set was sent back to China as a proof of concept for condition monitoring and refurbishment, ahead of a wider programme from 2026.
