CRRC 600

Passenger Rolling Stock and High-Speed Trainsets

The CRRC 600 is a high-speed magnetic levitation train under development in China, using German Transrapid technology under licence from ThyssenKrupp. The first trainset was unveiled in July 2021 at the CRRC Qingdao Sifang factory in Qingdao, and the system is planned to reach 600 kilometres per hour, which would make it one of the fastest trains in the world. A prototype maglev train from 2019 began tests in 2020 on a 1.5 kilometre track at Tongji University in Shanghai, and testing continued in 2021. Testing at top speed would need a longer track, because maglev trains cannot use regular high speed railway lines. A trainset can carry from two to ten carriages, each holding over 100 passengers.
