China Railway CR450AF

The China Railway CR450AF, branded Fuxing, is a prototype electric high-speed train built by CRRC Qingdao Sifang as part of the China Standardized EMU family. It is designed for an operating speed of 400 kilometres an hour and a maximum design speed of 450, which would put it, with its sister train the CR450BF, among the fastest trains in service anywhere. The project was announced in October 2020 within China's 14th five-year plan, and in June 2023 test runs on the Fuzhou to Xiamen high-speed line with inspection trains carrying CR450 intermediate cars reached 453 kilometres an hour. The first prototype set, CR450AF-0201, was rolled out on 26 November 2024. A standard set has eight carriages of aluminium, carbon fibre and glass fibre, four of them powered. CRRC says it is 10 percent lighter than the CR400AF, with 22 percent lower aerodynamic drag and 20 percent less energy use, and it uses permanent-magnet synchronous motors and bogies enclosed under the side skirt.
