Prince Motor Company

Vehicle and Equipment Manufacturers

The Prince Motor Company was a Japanese automobile marque that merged into Nissan in 1966. It grew out of the Tachikawa Aircraft Company and the Tokyo Electric Car Company, took the name Prince in 1952 to honor Akihito's investiture as Crown Prince, and returned to it in 1961 after a spell as Fuji Precision Industries. Its best known lines were the Skyline and the Gloria, which continued in the Nissan range after the merger, and it also built the Homy cargo van and minibus, the Clipper cabover truck and the R380 race car. After the merger the Prince organization remained inside Nissan as the Nissan Prince Store dealer network in Japan until 1999.
