Piaggio

Vehicle and Equipment Manufacturers

Piaggio is an Italian vehicle maker founded in 1884 by Rinaldo Piaggio in Genoa, which built ship fittings, railway rolling stock and later aircraft. After the Second World War it introduced the Vespa scooter in 1946 and the three-wheeled Ape light commercial vehicle in 1948, both of which put large numbers of Italians on the road. The group now owns Vespa, Moto Guzzi and Aprilia. Piaggio vehicles became everyday transport in Italy and many other countries, and the three-wheeled Ape is still widely used as a small delivery vehicle.
