Orion Bus Industries

Orion Bus Industries was a Canadian maker of transit buses based in Mississauga, Ontario, with final assembly for the American market at Oriskany, New York. Arnold Wollschlaeger founded it in 1974 as Ontario Bus and Truck, the first Orion bus reached the market in 1976, and it became Ontario Bus Industries in 1977. The Ontario government took it over in 1994 and sold it to Western Star Truck Holdings in 1995. DaimlerChrysler gained it when it bought Western Star in 2000, and in 2006 Orion was absorbed into DaimlerChrysler Commercial Buses North America. Daimler announced its closure in April 2012 and bus production stopped in 2013.
