Evergreen Marine

Evergreen Marine is a Taiwanese container shipping network founded in 1968 and headquartered in Taoyuan City, operating a fleet of more than 150 container ships that calls at roughly 240 ports across about 80 countries. Its principal trade routes connect East Asia with North America, the Mediterranean, Northern Europe and numerous other regions, making it one of the transport networks that carries a large share of the world's containerized cargo along the busiest ocean corridors. The line briefly drew wide public attention in March 2021 when its container ship Ever Given ran aground and blocked the Suez Canal for six days, halting an estimated ten percent of global trade traffic through that route and exposing how dependent world shipping networks are on a small number of narrow chokepoints. Evergreen Marine operates as part of the wider Evergreen Group of transportation and logistics companies, coordinating vessel scheduling, port calls and intermodal connections across its global route network.
