Daewoo

Vehicle and Equipment Manufacturers

Daewoo Motors was a South Korean automaker established in 1937 as National Motors in Incheon and renamed several times, taking the Daewoo name in 1982 after the Daewoo Group acquired it. After financial difficulties it sold most of its assets to General Motors in 2002 for 1.2 billion dollars and became a subsidiary of the American company. In 2011 the Daewoo name was withdrawn and the company was renamed GM Korea, with the Chevrolet marque replacing the Daewoo brand. Earlier, Shinjin Motors had started a joint venture with General Motors in 1972 that became Saehan Motors and was later sold to Daewoo.
