Audi

Vehicle and Equipment Manufacturers

Audi is a German car maker whose name goes back to August Horch, who founded the firm in 1909 after leaving his earlier company, and the name is the Latin form of his surname. In 1932 it joined with DKW, Horch and Wanderer to form Auto Union, and after the war it was revived and taken over by Volkswagen. Audi is known for front-wheel drive saloons, for the Quattro of 1980 that brought four-wheel drive to rally and road cars, and for the luxury A8, and its base is Ingolstadt.
