Freight and Logistics Networks

Grupo Mexico is a Mexican conglomerate headquartered in Mexico City, founded in 1978, that operates through four main divisions: Mining, through its Minera Mexico subsidiary; Transportation, through GMxT; Infrastructure; and the Fundacion Grupo Mexico. While best known as a major copper mining company, ranking as the largest mine operator in Mexico and Peru, third largest in the United States, and fourth largest copper producer worldwide, Grupo Mexico also runs the second largest rail transportation division in Mexico and the U.S. states of Texas and Florida. Its rail properties include Ferromex, Mexico's largest railway network by length, together with associated U.S. short line and terminal operations, giving the group control of more than 11,000 kilometers of track used to move freight across the region. The transportation division connects Mexican industrial and mining output, including the company's own ore and metal shipments, to ports and markets in the United States.
