BMW R 1200 GS Adventure K255

Motorcycles and Powered Two- and Three-Wheelers

The BMW R 1200 GS Adventure, built on the K25 R 1200 GS, is a travel enduro motorcycle that was shown to the press at the EICMA show in Milan on 15 November 2005. From 2006 to 2013 BMW built 79,118 of them at its Berlin Spandau plant. It is driven by an air and oil cooled 1170 cubic centimetre boxer twin making 81 kW, or 110 PS, and is rated at 203 km/h; the kerb weight is 263 kg and the permitted gross mass 475 kg. It gained output over the R 1150 GS Adventure through a longer stroke and higher compression, was revised in 2008 with Enduro ESA suspension, and in 2010 took the double overhead camshaft heads of the HP2 Sport. It became widely known through the 2007 series Long Way Down with Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman, and a successor on the K50 R 1200 GS was announced on 7 October 2013.
