The Honda Wave series debuted in 1995 with an underbone design, having separate cosmetic plastic body panels over a structural steel tube chassis. It followed the Super Cub, whose pressed steel frame acted as both chassis and cosmetic bodywork, and it is the Southeast Asian counterpart of the historic Honda Cub. The Wave was also marketed as the Honda NF series, the Honda Innova in Europe and the Honda Supra in Indonesia.
