The Honda CB500 Four had a single generation, made from 1971 to 1978. The smaller bike had a wet sump engine and a Hy-Vo Morse chain for primary drive, where the CB750, with its dry sump, had a duplex chain. Its four-into-four exhaust pipes echoed those of the CB750. UK monthly magazine Motorcycle Mechanics described the 1972 show model as one of the show stealers, giving a 500 cc machine the performance of a 650 twin. Each model year has its own page.
