The Fiat G.50 Freccia (Arrow) was an Italian single-seat fighter of the Second World War, developed by Fiat Aviazione from a design by Giuseppe Gabrielli and built by its subsidiary CMASA at Marina di Pisa. It was the first Italian front-line fighter with an all-metal monoplane structure, an enclosed cockpit, retractable undercarriage and a constant-speed propeller, powered by one Fiat A.74 radial engine of about 649 kilowatts and armed with two 12.7 millimetre machine guns. It first flew on 26 February 1937 and served with the Regia Aeronautica in Spain, North Africa, the Balkans and elsewhere. Croatia flew a few, and 35 went to Finland, where they were reported to reach a kill to loss ratio of 33 to 1.
