Fiat CR.30

Military Aircraft

The Fiat CR.30 was a single-seat Italian biplane fighter of the 1930s, designed by Celestino Rosatelli and built by Fiat. Four prototypes were built and the first flight took place in March 1932. It had W-form interplane struts, a fixed tailwheel undercarriage and a 600 horsepower Fiat A.30 V-12 piston engine. Two prototypes won the speed circuit at an international meeting in Zurich in July 1932, which led the Regia Aeronautica to order 121 aircraft. Two-seat CR.30B trainer and liaison conversions and a CR.30 Idro seaplane variant followed, and Austria, China, Hungary, Paraguay, Spain and Venezuela also flew the type. It was the direct predecessor of the Fiat CR.32.
