The Dornier P 247, also written Do P 247, was a design for a single-seat fighter with a pusher propeller, a further development of the Dornier Do 335. Studies of the excellent performance of the Do 335 led to many follow-on designs, and in the P 247, projected from the end of 1944, the front engine was dropped to gain speed. A 12-cylinder Jumo 213 J engine with MW 50 injection, giving 2,600 horsepower at take-off, was to sit behind the pilot in mid fuselage and drive the pusher propeller through an extension shaft, with two block radiators in the wing roots and wings swept back 30 degrees. The freed nose was to carry three 30 millimetre MK 108 cannon as an exchangeable assembly, and the fuel system held 1,300 litres. The calculated top speed was 835 kilometres per hour at a take-off weight of 6,200 kilograms. Because of the events of the war the design was never realised.
