The CASA C-212 Aviocar is a twin-turboprop STOL medium cargo aircraft designed and built by the Spanish manufacturer Construcciones Aeronáuticas SA for both civil and military operators. It was developed in the 1960s to replace much of the Spanish Air Force's transport fleet, first flew on 26 March 1971, and won a Spanish Air Force order three years later. Indonesia's IPTN licence-built it at Bandung from 1975 and had constructed 95 NC212s by 2000. The last Spanish-assembled aircraft was delivered to the Vietnam Coast Guard in December 2012, after the Spanish line had produced 477 aircraft for 92 operators, and production of the type has since moved to Indonesian Aerospace.
