Boeing C-40

Military Aircraft

The Boeing C-40 is a military transport aircraft derived from the Boeing 737 Next Generation, used by the United States Navy, Air Force and Marine Corps to carry high-priority cargo and passengers. The Navy variant is the C-40A Clipper, while the Air Force C-40B and C-40C have no official names. It combines the 737-700 fuselage with the strengthened wings and landing gear of the larger and heavier 737-800, and has auxiliary fuel tanks that give an unrefueled range of up to 5,000 nautical miles. The C-40A first flew in April 2000 and entered service in April 2001, with the Navy Reserve its first customer. The Clipper can carry 121 passengers, all cargo, or a combination of up to three cargo pallets and 70 passengers, and the C-40B and C-40C replaced older C-137 and C-22 transports.
