The Mitsubishi 2MB2, also called the Experimental Washi-type Light Bomber, was a single-engined biplane light bomber built in one example for the Imperial Japanese Army in the 1920s. Mitsubishi hired the German designer Alexander Baumann, a professor at Stuttgart University, to supervise the team, with Nobushiro Nakata as chief designer. They produced a sesquiplane of mixed wood and metal with W-shaped struts, a crew of two, and a Mitsubishi Hi V-12 engine. It was finished in December 1925 and outperformed the Kawasaki and Nakajima entries, but its complex structure made it too expensive, and the Army chose a modified Navy carrier aircraft instead.
