The Mitsubishi 1MT was a single-seat triplane torpedo bomber that Mitsubishi built for the Imperial Japanese Navy Air Service in the early 1920s. It was drawn up by Herbert Smith, a British designer who had previously worked at Sopwith, and it was meant to fly from the aircraft carrier Hosho. The 1MT1N first flew in August 1922 and was accepted as the Navy Type 10 Torpedo Bomber, also called the Carrier Attacker. Twenty were built, but pilots found it hard to fly, and it could not operate from a carrier while carrying a torpedo, so the type was withdrawn soon afterwards and scrapped. Its single Napier Lion engine gave 336 kilowatts and a top speed of about 209 kilometres per hour.
