Kamov Ka-60

Lighter-Than-Air Craft and Rotorcraft

The Kamov Ka-60 Kosatka, meaning killer whale, is a Russian medium twin-turbine military transport helicopter under development by Kamov. It made its first flight on 24 December 1998. It is meant for aerial reconnaissance, air-assault transport, radio-electronic jamming, special operations and light transport, with an estimated home market of 200 units. The programme began in 1984 and the second prototype flew only in 2007. Development problems with its Saturn RD-600V engines delayed the civil Ka-62 version, which was revised around Turbomeca Ardiden 3G engines, unveiled in 2012 and certified in Russia on 30 November 2021.
