All Historic Numbered Highways

Long national highways, often decommissioned or replaced by newer roads, that carried the main flow of traffic across a country in the early motor age and remain remembered as heritage routes and cultural symbols. An entry belongs here when the cited article calls the road a historic highway, an original numbered national highway or a heritage route of the early automobile era. It excludes international and frontier highways and scenic coastal roads. Entries are placed by what their own cited article says, so each one sits in the narrowest group its source supports, and the group page lists it beside the other members.
