Named highways and overland driving routes notable for their history, engineering or scenic character, from early transcontinental auto trails through modern scenic byways. Belongs here: any individually named highway or driving route considered as a route rather than as the road authority that built it. Does not belong here: the physical highway system as a piece of built infrastructure, tracked as an infrastructure entity, or historic trade routes predating motor transport, grouped under historic trade routes and sea lanes.
