Shipping Magnates and Shipowners

Businessmen who built shipping companies and fleets, from Cunard and Vanderbilt to Onassis, Maersk and the inventor of the shipping container. An entry belongs here when the cited article calls the person a shipping magnate, shipowner, business magnate or businessman who built a shipping business. It excludes ship designers and submarine inventors. Entries are placed by what their own cited article says, so each one sits in the narrowest group its source supports, and the group page lists it beside the other members.
