Sailing Ships of the Age of Exploration

Square-rigged and lateen-rigged ships of the Middle Ages and the age of discovery, such as the cog, carrack, caravel and galleon, in which Europeans crossed the oceans. An entry belongs here when the cited article calls the ship a cog, carrack, caravel, galleon or a named sailing ship of exploration. It excludes oared galleys and nineteenth century clippers. Entries are placed by what their own cited article says, so each one sits in the narrowest group its source supports, and the group page lists it beside the other members.
