Intercity and Transcontinental Railways

Long railway lines that join cities and cross continents, from the first intercity line to the Trans-Siberian and the Qinghai-Tibet lines. An entry belongs here when the cited article calls the railway an inter-city railway or a transcontinental railroad or railway. It excludes urban metros and branch lines. Entries are placed by what their own cited article says, so each one sits in the narrowest group its source supports, and the group page lists it beside the other members.
