De Havilland Canada DHC-2 Turbo Beaver

General Aviation and Light Aircraft

The DHC-2 Mk.III Turbo Beaver is the turboprop development of the de Havilland Canada Beaver, the single-engined bush plane. De Havilland developed it during the 1960s and fitted a Pratt and Whitney Canada PT6 turboprop engine in place of the original radial. Sixty were built in the late 1960s, before the Beaver assembly line closed in 1967 after 1,657 DHC-2 Beavers had been constructed in all. Turbo-Beaver III aircraft are powered by a 431 kW (578 ehp) Pratt and Whitney PT6A-6 or PT6A-20 turboprop. Viking Air later marketed remanufactured Beavers as the DHC-2T Turbo Beaver, upgraded with a Pratt and Whitney Canada PT6A-34 turboprop of 680 hp (507 kW).
